Salary: Grade 4, £13,048 - £13,846 per annum. £10.00 - £10.62 per hour

25 hours per week

Your role:


The role will support the implementation of the five year cultural manifesto. It will involve you providing a comprehensive, efficient and effective level of customer service, acting as the first point of contact for queries received by the Culture Team. Working across museums and archives in Wigan and Leigh, including The Fire Within exhibition in Wigan town centre, the Museum of Wigan Life and the Borough’s archives service in Leigh, you will engage with visitors and provide advice and assistance to customers.

The role will involve supporting the delivery of events and school activity and undertake a range of administrative tasks to support the Culture Team including, but not limited to, arranging meetings, taking minutes, responding to correspondence, answering calls and producing promotional documentation when needed.

You will develop a thorough understanding of cultural opportunities in the borough and wherever possible, you will link customers with wider cultural opportunities with our partners from across the borough and also our library service facilitating access to cultural events and activities that will enrich customers lives.

About you:

You will be self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic with an interest in the cultural sector and an ability to learn quickly. You will have the ability to work as part of a busy team but also be able to use your own initiative. With excellent customer service skills and an ability to build rapport and trust with customers you will be a confident communicator.
You will have the ability to input and extract data into computer systems, type correspondence and undertake a range of administrative tasks. You will need to be able to work flexibly to meet the demands of the service.
