37 hours per week, term time plus 2 weeks working 40 weeks per year

The Headteacher and Governors at Bedford High School seek to appoint an effective and enthusiastic Pastoral Guidance Officer to monitor, support and improve the overall progress and development of our students.

The successful applicant will need to have NVQ level 4 or equivalent qualification or comparable level of experience. You will be joining a strong, supportive team who manage the pastoral care function within our school. You will need to have the skill set to be able to monitor, support and improve the overall progress and development of our students.

You will work individually and as part of a great team to improve the behaviour and attendance of some of our students by providing a proactive approach and immediate response to any behaviour issues. The successful candidate will be responsible for pastoral support of a specified year group of students and work with external partners. We want you to actively support the personal welfare of all members of our school community with regard to spiritual, moral, social and cultural values and to promote the ethos of our school. You will be able to remain calm and positive in challenging circumstances and relate well to children and adults.

Bedford High School is a highly successful and popular school that continues to improve. We gained Ofsted ‘Good’ in our last inspection, and the school maintains very strong examination performance at KS4.
