Salary: Grade 11, £40,760 - £44,632 per annum.

Your role:
  

An opportunity has arisen within the Network Management Group to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and committed team member who would be an asset to the team.  

You will manage the Highway Structures team who are responsible for the management and maintenance of the borough’s highway structures including bridges, walls and road culverts. You will also carry out the duties of Technical Approval Authority on behalf of the council in relation to developers and consultant’s proposals for new highway structures within the borough.  

You will also play a key role in the delivery of the aspirations and objectives set out in the Highway Asset Management Policy, Strategy and Plan, which aims to embed asset management as our core approach to managing our highway infrastructure.  

About you: 

Our ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and practical and extensive experience of highway structures design, implementation, supervision and inspections is essential to this post. You will also need the ability to manage your own and the team’s workload and to allocate scheme and project works within the team. 
 
A flexible and adaptable approach to work is essential, together with the ability to use innovation in your approach to identify and deliver effective engineering and design solutions for a range of projects.  

You will be a Chartered Engineer and hold a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering along with having a strong sense of purpose to strive to give your best and can collaborate positively with our service providers and communities.  

About us:  

This exciting new role is part of the Network Management Group. We play an integral role in managing and maintaining the borough’s highway infrastructure which has a value of £1.6bn. The highway infrastructure plays a key role in allowing residents, businesses and visitors to travel safely around the borough and connect into the wider region.
