Your role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Collections and Recovery team within Customer Services. You will support the maximisation and timely collection of Council Tax and National Non Domestic Rates collection as well as Housing Rents and other council income streams.

You will provide accurate and efficient processing of Collections related work, including maintaining and updating customers’ accounts.

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic and hard-working individual who prides themselves on a job well done and enjoys the challenge of a fast paced revenue collection environment. You will have the ability to combine accuracy with efficiency as well as balance excellent customer care with an appreciation for collection needs.

You will be professional and passionate about customer service, with a proven track record in supporting functions in an office based setting.

About us:

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Council of the Year’ at the iESE Public Sector Transformation Awards and has recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough.  We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.

In Customer Services we focus on our customers and understand their needs. We make change happen through innovative thinking, redesigning services and recognising areas for improvement. As the first point of contact we are the ‘face’ of the council and pride ourselves on a right first time approach for our customers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward thinking organisation and be part of a fresh look at how we collect Council Tax and Council income. We are an organisation who will offer you the support you need to succeed and every opportunity to learn and develop your career further.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits.
