Your role:
This is a rare opportunity for an experienced and qualified Building Surveyor looking to raise their profile and develop their career in a large and well-run authority. You will lead a team of dynamic and motivated Building Inspectors, managing, mentoring and developing them in line with their needs and aspirations. You will also maintain a small caseload of the most complex and high-profile projects, including the inspection of safety measures at major public events. You will have the opportunity to make your mark by developing and shaping the service, placing us in the best position to compete for work, deliver excellent service to our customers and secure repeat business. You will be a member of a related professional institute and will have at least five years post qualification experience.
About you:
You can demonstrate the capacity to be an effective leader and have a strong track record of experience in a wide range of building control applications. A self-starter, highly motivated and enthusiastic about development, with a passion to deliver an effective and responsive service and commercially minded. This role will play a key part in the delivery of the Council’s growth agenda “Deal 2030”. You will possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with the ability and confidence to provide advice and guidance on highly complex technical matters to residents, colleagues, businesses and elected members, and to build positive working relationships. You must be IT literate with the ability to adapt to new technology.
