WN3 4HH

Salary: Grade 8, £28,785 - £32,878 per annum.

37 hours per week

Your role:

As Senior Private Rented Sector Officer you will develop and deliver a range of initiatives which seek to maximise the role the PRS plays in the provision of affordable, quality housing, to include our in-house Ethical Lettings Agency, a revamped Bond Scheme, a range of landlord incentives and an ethical PRS partnership. You will take the lead in terms of landlord engagement as you attract and incentivise new partners to work with the Council, whilst also ensuring tenants within the private sector are sufficiently supported and enabled to sustain their tenancies. Working collaboratively with Council teams and partners to deliver PRS reform, you will also manage staff and oversee the direct delivery of these key services.

About you:

Experienced in working with private landlords and tenants, you will have a good working knowledge of both the national legislation that governs the sector and any local tensions and challenges. You will have proven influencing and negotiating skills, having worked with a range of partners and stakeholders to harness positive relationships and deliver real change across the public, private and voluntary sectors. You have the ability to project manage small-scale projects to deadlines, but also to take on the day-to-day operational management of a key service, ensuring growth and performance targets are met and any team members sufficiently supported in the delivery of this.

About us:

Wigan Council has been voted ‘Council of the Year’ at the 2019 LGC Awards and has recently published The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.

With a number of roles currently available, this is the perfect opportunity to join a dynamic, innovative team that are passionate about delivering The Deal 2030 vision of a ‘Home for All’: A Borough that provides quality, affordable and accessible homes, part of safe and connected communities, to meet the needs of local residents. We set the strategic direction for housing in the borough, maximising the role of the PRS and driving up standards in the sector, whilst directly delivering a range of housing incentives and helping to develop meaningful relationships with local housing providers and developers. All roles provide opportunities for further development and training within a supportive, flexible team who work together to respond to local housing demand and help to shape the future of Wigan’s housing market.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits.
