Your role:


This role is a fantastic leadership opportunity to develop and deliver a broad range of housing services, covering strategic housing, private sector housing and other housing areas and making a significant contribution to delivering The Deal 2030 priorities, in particular ‘A home for All’.

You will play a key role in the development and delivery of our new housing strategy and variously support its co-ordination, facilitation and delivery. You will coordinate, interpret, present and keep up to date relevant and robust housing data and intelligence which underpins the housing strategy, policies and delivery.

You will play a key role in supporting the development of our new comprehensive and progressive approach to the private rented sector and have responsibility for its delivery whilst also taking responsibility for the development, monitoring, reviewing and delivery of the empty property strategy, developing a private sector housing enforcement policy and contributing to the development and delivery of the fuel poverty strategy.

Other areas of responsibility include the Councils affordable housing products, engagement and collaboration with other housing providers and the purchase of former right to buy properties.

You will lead a team of varying officers, collaborate and work in partnership with others and have considerable engagement with residents and communities.

About you:

You will be educated to degree level with significant experience of driving and managing a good proportion of the housing areas for which this role is responsible at both a strategic and operational level.

You will have expansive knowledge plus experience and abilities, to interpret and translate national, regional and local housing policy, legislation and context and to develop and deliver strategies, policies, procedures and actions across the work areas of the post.

You will have experience of leading, organising, developing and motivating staff and of working collaboratively and in partnership with others both internal and external to the Council.
