Salary: Grade 7, £26,446 - £ 30,095 per annum.

Your role: 
 
It is an exciting time for culture, arts and heritage in Wigan Borough as we deliver our Cultural Manifesto which delivers cultural transformation. This involves: aspiring our young people; engaging residents in the arts to improve health and happiness; celebrating our proud heritage in innovative ways, such as digital arts; and bringing a stage to our communities. 
 
You will be a key part of the new Culture Team within Customer Services.  Your role is to develop museums and other venues as a focus point for access to the borough’s heritage, supporting educational and wellbeing outcomes for customers and identifying potential funding opportunities. 
 
You will provide professional expertise in a range of core skills such as acquisition, disposal, cataloguing and collections care to accredited standards, supporting managers to shape and deliver an effective and efficient service across all sites and providing excellent customer service to meet changing customer requirements.
 
You will develop an exciting programme of exhibitions and events for venues across the borough to increase the visibility and accessibility of the museum collection to attract and maintain customer visits.  
 
About you:
 
You will have a passion for culture, arts and heritage, backed by a relevant qualification or experience working in a museum or heritage environment. We are looking for a team player with excellent communication skills that can collaborate with a wide range of partners and is equally comfortable dealing with audiences of all ages.  You must demonstrate your ability to provide professional expertise and consider the best approach to service delivery, making recommendations for changes as necessary to give an excellent offer to all of our customers.  You will be expected to set objectives, targets and achieve measurable outcomes.
