33 hours per week, term time plus 1 week working 39 weeks per year

Willow Grove Primary School is a co-educational school catering for 72 pupils within Key Stages 1 and 2. Pupils have a range of social, emotional and mental health difficulties and may also have associated learning difficulties many have early years trauma experiences and all find relationships extremely challenging. The school has a Borough wide catchment area, stretching from Atherton, Golborne, Ashton and Bryn to Standish, Shevington and Whelley.

The school is situated in Ashton in Makerfield in a pleasant residential area, set amongst large playing fields and spacious hard play areas.

The Headteacher and Governors wish to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our highly successful team. The successful candidates will take up position as soon as possible.

The successful candidates will be required to work as needed in any year group across the school. This may include 1:1 work in any year group for an unlimited time scale. The person must be prepared to take part in training for Positive Handling, Sounds Write and First Aid.

The successful candidates will need to:
Be an outstanding classroom practitioner who is passionate about learning and able to demonstrate a commitment to the aims, purpose and ethos of our diverse school;
Be an effective communicator with all members of the school community;
Be incredibly emotionally resilient;
Have experience of working with Primary aged children with additional needs

Be flexible in their approach, open to new ideas and a team player who is keen to contribute to our curriculum team;
Be able to physically intervene following the school’s Relationship Support Policy and use of Team Teach
Have a thorough understanding of support strategies relating to attachment and trauma theory
Be willing to train in further understanding of Early Years trauma and attachment difficulties
