Exciting opportunities have arisen for three Social Workers to join Wigan Council across adult services.  Applications are welcomed from a mixture of both newly qualified and experienced Social Workers.

Your role:

You will ensure the delivery of high quality and effective services to adults and their carer(s) within a family context, working from a core value base of promoting independence, strengths and assets of both individuals and local communities.  You will work alongside health colleagues to provide an integrated approach to service delivery.  Your role will be specific to all adults in a range of situations, including adults at risk from harm, adults with varying disabilities, long term health conditions, mental health needs and drug/alcohol problems.  You will work in a statutory position with adherence to the legislation relating to the Care Act 2014, Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act 1983(2007), and other statutory guidance and framework which will be coupled with your responsibility to work to organisational policy and procedures.

About you:

You will be an enthusiastic and committed practitioner who is an excellent communicator and able to build professional relationships with service users, their carer(s) and families.  You will understand the value and importance of integrated working with partner agencies.  You will be efficient in time management, report writing and completing assessments and a strong team player who values the strength of working in a person centred way which adopts a holistic approach, focuses on reducing inequalities and supports individuals and their carer(s) / families to develop resilience and improved outcomes.  You will manage a complex caseload, chairmeetings and produce high quality reports, assessments and support plans.

About us:

Wigan is an energetic and dynamic Council whom is celebrated widely for being innovative and forward thinking.  In a backdrop of established relationships with our partner agencies, we are fully committed to helping our residents by looking at what they have rather than what they don’t and we have robust mechanisms in place to safeguard and protect vulnerable people.  We are wholly focused on improving outcomes and have a strongly developed performance management and market development team whom ensure the services available are tailored to needs and of high quality.

We will provide you with regular person focussed supervision to meet your well-being, development and training needs.  You will be given a comprehensive induction programme followed by extensive opportunities in training, including all Social Workers being trained to either AMHP or BIA level.  The AMHP role is rewarded with pay enhancements of two increments in addition to your salary.
