You will be based across Wigan Borough’s Life Centres and Libraries

 

Salary: Grade 4, £7,664 - £8,527 per annum. £9.19 - £10.22 per hour

 

The salary is subject to the 2019 National Joint Council pay award and any local agreements

 

16 hours per week

  

Working hours will be between the hours of 08.50 and 17.10 Monday to Friday with Saturday working required between 08.50 and 14.10pm on a 2 week rota basis. Location and working pattern will be agreed with successful candidates.

 

Your role:

 

Customer Services deliver a variety of services from Wigan Borough’s Life Centres and Libraries. There are approximately 1.5 million customers every year who use these services.

 

You will be first point of contact for customers visiting the Libraries and Life Centres and will actively engage, support, model and demonstrate to customers the benefits of using online services as the primary customer access channel to help build self-reliance.

 

You will provide assistance with the administration of various council services including but not exclusively; Blue Badge applications, Environmental Services, Planning and Registrars.

 

You’ll work holistically with customers, within libraries or life centres, to help them gain access to appropriate services which will enable them to make positive life changes, gain employment and work towards building self-reliance, improving their health and well-being and independence.

You will be passionate in your approach to providing excellent customer service provision. You will be enthusiastic and positively promote our libraries and life centre offer to customers and maintain an attractive, welcoming environment. Your positive outlook will enable you to work closely with colleagues, partners, community groups and volunteers to provide an enhanced service for our residents of all ages.

 

You will be capable of actively seeking information to resolve customer enquiries, using own initiative and appropriate research tools and techniques. You will have the ability to take accountability for your day to day work load ensuring quantity and quality of work is in line with performance criteria.
