About us:
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Council of the Year’ at the 2019 LGC Awards and has recently published
The Deal 2030, our ambitious plan for our borough. We are signed up to the
Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Early Intervention Service is a well-respected, enthusiastic and proactive multidisciplinary service consisting of Occupational Therapists, Primary Assessors, Sensory Rehab Officers, Reablement staff, Manual Handling Advisors and the Integrated Community Equipment Service. Our Reablement service is a CQC ‘Outstanding’ rated service, and proud to be part of the team that helped to achieve the accolade of ‘Council of the year’! We provide a range of services to Wigan residents who have experienced a period of illness or have an ongoing disability, with the aim of improving their level of independence and wellbeing. We achieve this via a reablement approach with programmes being devised by the OT and a collaborative approach to progression of the service user’s outcomes with our in-house Reablement service. We also offer compensatory solutions via the provision of equipment, adaptations and assistive technology devices, enabling people to remain in their own homes. We are a committed team wholly focused on improving the lives of our service users. As part of Wigan Council’s Deal for Adult Social Care and Health, we are committed to providing an asset-based approach, with a focus on a person’s strengths and talents, and how we can support them to be a part of their local community. We will provide you with the support you need to do your job and give you the opportunity to learn and develop further within the organisation.
The early intervention and prevention service forms part of Integrated Community Services within the Healthier Wigan partnership.
We offer an agile working environment, with the benefits of utilising several bases across the borough open to council employees, as well as the opportunity to work from home where appropriate.
