Mayfield House Centre of Excellence is our first specialist Accommodation Service that is specifically designed to provide a service to adults with autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviour. This is an exciting opportunity to work here in a newly devised post of lead support.
With direction from the Team leaders to be part of a specialist team, working with support workers to support customers with Autism to live the life they choose in a new purpose- built building.
You will be required to work as part of a team co-ordinating support workers, giving advice and guidance where needed, ensuring opportunities are explored that will maximise individual’s potential whilst fulfilling their dreams. You will encourage customers to realise their goals and aspirations and to develop strong links within the community in accordance with The Wigan Council’s Deal. You will be expected to ensure that support workers adhere to positive behaviour support plans, de-escalate incidents and only use Physical intervention as a last resort.
You will be required to work on a rota basis which will include weekends, bank holidays, sleep-in duties and unsociable hours.
About you:
As a lead support you will be directing the team in supporting customers within their own homes and you will be offering support/advice with everyday life skills and activities. Our customers have varying levels of abilities, challenges and you will be required to deliver a high standard of care and provide support in accordance with individual’s support plans. You will offer support to encourage individuals to realise their goals and aspirations and you will also assist in developing strong links within the community.
You will hold an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or the equivalent) and have experience in care services. You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with customers, families, agencies and other relevant professionals to maintain high quality care. You must have the ability to co-ordinate support services, working alongside the Team Leaders to ensure the team is motivated in excellent service delivery. You must demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to offering value-based support, focusing on the qualities that each person has.

Mayfield House Centre of Excellence for Adults with Autism is the first specialist accommodation which is designed specifically for people with Autism, this is a state of the art high specification building which is designed to be user friendly and features the latest technology to help people live comfortably in a supportive environment . We are looking for people that can co-ordinate a team, motivate in empowering autistic individuals realising their ambitions and playing a key role in helping Wigan a more autism friendly place.
You will receive specific training provided by both in house training providers and the National Autistic society with the opportunity to achieve ongoing professional development.
