Salary: Grade 1 SCP 6 to 7 (£8.50 - £8.55 per hour) for travel time to the school, Grade 4 SCP 14 to 19 (£9.19 - £10.22 per hour) for support time

 

The salary is subject to the 2019 National Joint Council pay award and any local agreements

 

Hours: Various from 10 hours up to 20 hours (routes to be confirmed)

 

Your role:

 

You will support vulnerable children and adults with autism, learning disabilities or dementia to travel to and from schools and daycentres across the borough of Wigan. You will provide assistance to support passengers to get on and off their mode of transport and throughout their journey to and from their daytime activities.

 

About you:

 

You will provide an efficient and professional service to children with special educational needs or adults with learning disabilities or dementia, by assisting them whilst on the vehicle to ensure they have a safe and pleasant journey to and from school, college or other daytime activities. You will have responsibility for their safety, wellbeing and comfort during their journey. This role can be challenging at times but is very rewarding.

The Integrated Transport Unit delivers a range of services, including home to school transport for children with special educational needs, adult social care transport, school bus passes for eligible children attending mainstream school and independent travel training for children with special educational needs.
