Your role:


As the Information Governance Manager, you will deputise for the Strategic Lawyer – Resources, as and when required.

You will have overall operational responsibility for the following areas:
  • Information Governance,
  • General Data Protection Regulations,
  • Freedom of Information,
  • Risk Stratification,
  • Subject Access Requests
  • Police Disclosures

You will be responsible for the development, maintenance and auditing of information governance documents, policies, privacy notices, guidelines and procedures for the work undertaken by clients including the investigation of any complaints or challenges received.

You will be the single point of contact for the Information Commissioner.

You will work closely with Senior Leadership, Elected Members, Trade Unions, Partner Organisations and other key stakeholders from across the public and private sector to deliver the Council’s transformational work streams and The Deal priorities ensuring appropriate governance models are in place and data protection impact assessments have been completed.

You will also be responsible for providing leadership to a team of Information Governance professionals and for the development of a culture which places a strong emphasis on collaborative working and shared goals.

About you:

You will hold an Information Systems Examination Board (ISED) certificate in Data Protection, ISEB in Information risk management or a legal qualification (Admitted Solicitor entitled to a current practicing certificate, the qualification of Barrister or Legal Executive) or be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience and knowledge of Information Governance Law.

You will have significant experience in at least three areas from the list below:
  • Information Governance
  • General Data Protection Regulation
  • Freedom of Information
  • Risk Stratification
  • Subject Access Requests
  • Police Disclosures
You will be an enthusiastic, highly motivated and professional individual who has experience of providing high level advice relating to information governance to assist and guide clients when making decisions.

You will need to have experience of developing documents, policies and procedures relating to information governance in similar public or private sector organisations and undertaking audits related to information governance.

You will need to engage, inspire and care to achieve service developments, transformation and a culture of continuous improvement.
