Grade 8 - £28,221 - £32,233 per annum

 

37 hours per week

 

Your role:

 

This is an exciting role at the heart of the council’s agenda for growth and health and wellbeing. You will help ensure that the role of transport in influencing the location and form of development is strengthened within Wigan, liaising with and influencing stakeholders. You will work at a strategic level with partners across Greater Manchester, contributing to the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework.  

 

You will prepare local plans, policies and guidance and assist neighbourhood planning. You will work closely with the Development Management Service in the determination of planning applications to get the right outcome for Wigan, and you will ensure that suitable travel plans are provided and implemented. 

 

About you:
 

You will have degree and chartered membership of a relevant professional body and good knowledge of the legal, regulatory, policy, resource and political framework within which transport and travel planning operate. You will be proactive in tackling issues around transport across all modes, to help deliver growth and housing, improve places and support healthier lifestyles.
 

You will be a self-starter, highly motivated, well organised and enthusiastic about the role that transport and travel planning can play. You will be an effective communicator who is able to work in partnership with all stakeholders
