The salary is subject to the 2019 National Joint Council pay award and any local agreements

 

37 hours per week

 

Temporary to 31 June 2019

 

Your role:

 

As a Senior Homelessness Officer you will lead a team of staff delivering front line homeless prevention and homeless assessment services.

 

You will contribute to the strategic co-ordination of homeless functions; liaising and engaging with statutory and voluntary services operating in the borough and ensuring Wigan Council meet its legal requirements regarding statutory homeless duties.

 

You will ensure performance targets and statutory duties are both met and accurately reported.

You will have the ability to drive forward our aspiration to deliver excellence in our approach to preventing and tackling homelessness, and you will do so with enthusiasm, motivating your team. You will explore opportunities, and identify challenges, linking in with other Local Authorities to develop best practice. 

 

A strong leader, you will use your skills to build and develop great relationships across a variety of stakeholders and encourage this approach within your team.

Our Housing Options team deal with information and advice for people facing homelessness or people who are homeless across the borough. Our aim is to prevent people becoming homeless in the borough and a large part of your work will focus on this.
