The Governors are looking to appoint a high-calibre Learning Assistant to work with an enthusiastic team of staff to provide assistance and support to Sixth Form students, including high needs students, promoting self-esteem and facilitating the highest possible levels of achievement.  
  
The successful candidate will:  
  • Plan and deliver lesson support, placement support and personal assistance for high need Sixth Form students
  • Create opportunities for students to actively engage in learning opportunities, including individual and group support sessions with students
  • Develop and use specialist skills (in literacy, numeracy or behavioural) to facilitate student learning
  • Assist with planning, preparation and development of work programmes for individuals and groups of students who are underachieving and prepare resources to support learning activities
  • To develop and deliver appropriate interventions to assist students within their course of study, including students with English as an additional language
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that the well-being, social and personal development of students enhances learning opportunities and life skills
  • Deliver specified work to individuals and groups, as required
  • Maintain student records and files and maintain confidentiality in and outside the workplace
  • Encourage students to interact and work co-operatively with others and engage all students in activities, including involvement in wider aspects of college life
  • Report on the impact of learning support and regularly communicate with sixth form and subject staff
  • Have experience of working as part of a team and of working with young people in a secondary school or college
