Please note, this position will be based throughout the Wigan Borough

 

Salary: Grade 5, £19,146 - £21,961 per annum. £9.92 - £11.38 per hour

 

37 hours per week

 

Your role:

 

Your role will be to undertake emergency and operational arboriculture maintenance tasks in accordance with the Arboriculture Association best practice and British standards.  You will provide the team leader with accurate records and documentation regarding machinery and vehicle maintenance, and security.  You will possess initiative to resolve day to day problems, enquiries and complaints; provide an ‘eyes and ears’ service across the Borough by reporting any problems you observe.  You will need to communicate effectively with various partners to deliver a quality and safe service, contributing to health and safety, in addition to providing emergency on call cover, ensuring the safety of the community and completing all tasking from Arboriculture Team Leaders.

 

About you:

 

You will hold industry standard operational qualifications including - NPTC Units 201-206, 301, 302, 306-309 in addition to a full driving licence including the provision to tow trailers and wood chippers.

 

You will also hold a level 3 amenity horticulture or arboriculture qualification, e.g. City & Guilds, NVQ, and have the ability to work on your own initiative whilst working to deadlines, under pressure and within set procedures.  You will have an awareness of the Wildlife & Countryside Act, Chapter 8 Regulations and their implementation alongside the ability to carry out equipment inspection including mechanical, ladders, ropes & harnesses.  You will have good communication skills both with colleagues and members of the public, displaying tact, understanding and assertiveness, when necessary.
