Salary: Grade 12, £43,757 - £47,161 per annum

 

37 hours per week

 

Your role:

 

This is an exciting role at the heart of the council’s agenda for growth and health and wellbeing.  You will lead a small team responsible for conservation, urban and landscape design, green infrastructure and trees as well as helping to the accelerate the delivery of housing and town centre development through good design and project support.

 

You will ensure that the team contributes fully to policy and development management, including developing guidance, and initiates work to safeguard and improve the borough’s environment.  You will work with colleagues across the council, borough, Greater Manchester and beyond, providing effective leadership and line management, mentoring and developing the team and delivering a high level of performance.

 

About you:

 

You will have a degree and be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or a closely related profession, with extensive post qualification experience.  You will be highly knowledgeable of the regulatory, policy, resource and political framework within which planning operates.  You will be able to translate this into opportunities for Wigan and play a key part in the delivery of the Deal for the Future and Growth in Wigan Borough.

 

You will be a self-starter, highly motivated and enthusiastic about the role that planning can play in shaping quality places whilst facilitating growth and have experience of achieving good outcomes through managing and supervising others.
